Welcome to the Mesh
I found my harddrive. Seems it ended up in the Girl’s playdough basket. Um, yeah. But still, ever since I lost it, I realized I needed a NEW backup solution. The external harddrive, while convenient at times, had its limitations. Most obvious — it was a single source. In other words, unless I backed it up constantly, if anything happened to it, I was screwed.
Damn, lost my hard drive
I’d like to say that it cratered, or that it broke, or that a virus killed it…but nope. I lost it. Gone, baby gone. All is not lost (err, whatever). I have backups on top of backups. But I did lose my digital rights management for songs I bought from Puretracks — and I lost approximately 500 words of a short story called Cold Dark (and the way writing goes, those are completely irreplaceable words — that will always seem like pure gold as I try to rewrite them).
Deadline
Garbage, pure garbage
I received a copy of Sinister Tales today — it’s the magazine that published Dignity Memorial, a short story of mine. And I can say without hesitation that the publication is shameful. Now this didn’t come as a complete surprise. I had a feeling that something was ‘amiss’ back when Dignity Memorial was accepted. Still, this was even worse than I had expected.
