Dues Ex Machina is off…

August 31st, 2009

With a mad dash to the finish line, my novella Dues Ex Machina is off to the publisher — 1/4 of the Women of the Apocalpyse project due to be released October 31st at the World Fantasy Convention in San Jose (which I will be attending).   What’s the Women of the Apocalypse?  I’m glad you asked:

Four women, four shooters, four destinies to save the world from the Apocalypse…

The four horseman are coming. And so the four Archangels find the perfect champions to save the world — fighters, warriors, soldiers. All brave men ready to fight for humanity against end times. All these warriors have to do is drink a shooter — a caustic mix of booze and divinity that would imbue them with the strength to battle the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Except these male warriors didn’t drink the shooters. Because of fate, or chance, or call it what you will, but four women (who have no plans for saving the world) drink the divine concoction — thereby signaling that they are taking up the mantel of champion…

The Nameless Intro…

I’m going on a jet plane…

August 20th, 2009

Women of the Apocalypse (updated)

August 19th, 2009

The webpage is up and running: womenoftheapocalypse.com.  Excerpts, bios, etc.  Still a work in progress but check it out.  Let me know what you think.  Brian Garside did the banner, and the guts of the site are a wordpress design called Connections Reloaded (with a little bit of a hack job).  Still working on getting the PayPal stuff up and running (for pre-orders and to sell the groups first book Seven Deadly Sins).

A wretched hive of geekery and scum…

August 19th, 2009

The 2009 World Science Fiction Convention attracted thousands of geeks from around the world. The full hierarchy was present, from the higher functioning, to the merely breathing (and non bathing) geek. Where do I fit in? I’ll let you decide (I’d like to think that I’m higher functioning…able to slide in with the jocks when need be, but knowing full well that I don’t really belong).

I shacked up with Eileen Bell – my writer friend from Edmonton (she has coattails…and I’m riding them on the Women of the Apocalypse project) and luckily for me, has become a veteran of the literary conventions.
