One of the toughest things about sending out stories (aside from the heart-wrenching rejections) is keeping track of where everything has gone. Rejected? Accepted? Dates? Usually stored in some outdated Excel file. Luckily, Duotrope, one of the top writing-market guides, also has a free Submission Tracker. Now, most people know about Duotrope — but they haven’t taken advantage of the tracker.
Now you know exactly who has had your story for 234 days (as well as listing their Average Response Times). You can do searches based on responses (form, personal), results, years, etc.
It is free, but I donated $20 to the site simply because it’s a great little service.

I am in the early stages of planning a book launch for Women of the Apocalypse – tentatively scheduled for the first week in November. The writing part was easy. Now comes the tough part — getting it into people’s hands. It starts with a launch — a party, really. I’m tentatively looking at the library, or perhaps a hall. I’m new at this game — so suggestions?

After much gnashing of teeth and general bitching, the cover for the Women of the Apocalypse has been completed. John Teeter did a great job on the design, adding and rearranging the artwork by Herman Lau. I’d like to outline the trials and tribulations of this design…but that’ll have to wait for another day.
If you’re wondering how/when you can buy this…you can pre-order now (goto WomenoftheApocalypse.com) or buy one from Amazon.com.
