Robert J Sawyer reviews WotA

November 27th, 2009

Back in 2006, I had the good fortune of attending a week-long writer’s workshop taught by Robert J Sawyer.   Robert J. Sawyer is “the dean of Canadian Science Fiction,” according to The Ottawa Citizen, “just about the best science-fiction writer out there,” according to the Denver Rocky Mountain News, and “by any reckoning, among the most successful Canadian authors ever,” according to Maclean’s.

Robert Sawyer says (among other things) about the Women of the Apocalypse:

This is, without doubt, one of the major theme anthologies of 2009, and deserves a place on the Aurora Award ballot — as do the individual stories. The anthology recently made the bestsellers’ list published in the Calgary Herald.

You can read his full review here.

We’re #4, We’re #4

November 22nd, 2009

The Women of the Apocalypse raced up the charts…in Calgary this week.  #4 on their bestseller list.  “Wait a minute” you’re saying.  “You don’t live in Calgary!  Are you (once again) riding the coattails of the Three Ladies From the WestTM?”  Well of course I am!  Working smarter, not harder.  It’s what got me through university and life in general.  If you want to hear the REAL reason…check out after the jump.

The Women take Flight

November 6th, 2009

lineupThe Women of the Apocalypse launched Wednesday night.  A ‘white tie’ affair that had people lining up out the door to get their hands on my books.  There was talk of the Calgary Flames getting books before the general public, and it created a semi-panic, but luckily my security team calmed the situation.

Book Signing 101

November 5th, 2009

signing

I gave the Women of the Apocalypse a proper sendoff last night — surrounded by friends and family.  Of course, the hidden battle last night was the most important — what to sign on the books.  Every signing had to be pithy, succinct, to distill the entire reader-author relationship (and my personal relationship) with that person into a single statement.
